IBU is a band whose name stands for "Industrious By Usual means." They formed around three members: Jonny Pierce on vocals and guitar, John Hill on bass, and Jarrod Gorbel on drums. Pierce and Hill first met in Los Angeles, and Gorbel joined them soon after to complete the trio.
Their debut album "Elastic Days" came out in 2014, followed by "Mountains of Gold" in 2016. The song "Half the Man" from that second album became their breakout single. Another track, "Next To The Candlelight," appears among their top songs.
In 2017, the music video for "Half the Man" drew some backlash for depicting a same-sex couple. The band supported the LGBTQ+ community through that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
