Ich Und Ich

Ich Und Ich was a German duo that formed around 2000, pairing singer Annette Humpe with rapper and producer Sebastian Hämer. Their first album came out in 2001, and they put out six studio records over the next decade, including 'Vom Selben Stern' in 2002 and 'Gute Reise' in 2009. Their sound mixed pop with hip-hop and reggae touches, with Humpe's vocals meeting Hämer's introspective raps on tracks like 'Umarme Mich' and 'Du Erinnerst Mich An Liebe'.

In 2005, they ran into copyright trouble over a sample used on their single 'Dienen', which led to a legal settlement and the song being pulled from distribution. A few years later, in 2009, Humpe was diagnosed with breast cancer; she recovered after treatment, but it clearly affected the band's work and outlook. They kept recording through that period, releasing 'Melancholie' in 2011.

The duo called it quits in 2012. Their songs, often dealing plainly with love and personal reflection, still turn up in German films and TV shows now and then.
