Ideal e Classe A formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s with André Mattos on vocals, Luciano Almeida on guitar, and Fabiano Almeida on drums. They put out their first album, 'Entre o Céu e o Mar,' in 2004. Two years later, the song 'Cais do Amor' from their second album became a major hit in Brazil, getting heavy radio play and turning into a kind of romantic standard.
Their sound worked with rock, pop, and Brazilian rhythms, and other songs like 'Derrota,' 'Nada Se Consegue Sem Amor,' and 'Morrendo de Amor' kept to that melodic, heartfelt style. They released two more albums after the success of 'Cais do Amor', 'O Caminho das Estrelas' in 2008 and 'O Voo da Águia' in 2011.
At one point, some critics raised questions about similarities between 'Cais do Amor' and an older song, which the band denied. André Mattos also dealt with depression during those years, which affected the group's output. They kept playing shows and had a solid fan base through it all.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
