Ideia Fixa formed in the mid-1990s as a Portuguese reggae band. Their song 'A Marra' became something of an anthem, connecting with listeners through its straightforward message about unity and social justice. The track appeared on their self-titled debut album in 1998.
Their lineup included David 'Vibra' Fonseca on vocals, Pedro 'Peixe' Silva on bass, Nuno 'Buteca' Rodrigues on keyboards, and Miguel 'Zeka' Ferreira on drums. They followed their debut with 'Até ao Fim' in 1999 and 'Festa' in 2001, records that showed the band developing their sound and political perspective.
By 2004's 'Bem-Vindo ao Maravilhoso Mundo da Música Ligeira,' they were experimenting with pop and rock, moving away from their reggae foundation. They returned to that style with 2009's 'Novas Canções Velhas,' a mix of re-recorded material and new songs.
