Archive material and source history
Identico formed in the early 1990s when four brothers from Mexico - Kiko, Lalo, Toño, and Lalo Ibarra - started playing music together. Their debut album came out in 1995, simply called "Identico," and it included the song "Hoy Que Te Vuelvo a Ver" that became their most recognizable track.
That song, along with others like "Preciosa," helped them build a following with straightforward ballads that leaned into emotional territory without much ornamentation. They kept recording through the late 1990s, putting out albums like "Hoy" in 1997 and "Entre El Cielo y La Tierra" later on.
In 2004, their brother Lalo Ibarra died after dealing with cancer. The band continued performing afterward, though their public presence became more complicated in later years.
