Igorrr is the project of French musician Gautier Serre, who started working under that name around 2005. His music pulls from black metal, breakcore, Baroque harpsichord, and polka, often in the same track. The 2007 debut album 'Nostril' established this mix, and later records like 'Hallelujah' and 'Savage Sinusoid' added jazz and folk touches.
A 2017 collaboration with French rapper Mr. Oizo on the song 'Cheval' brought Igorrr wider attention. The track's blend of breakcore, Baroque, and rap became something of a viral moment. Another track, 'Parpaing,' shows the project's aggressive, genre-splicing approach.
Serre has worked with various musicians over time, including guitarists and drummers, and has collaborated with artists like Amenra and Mike Patton. The music has drawn criticism for being too chaotic or gimmicky, but Serre has kept making it his way. Igorrr tours regularly, playing live shows that are as intense and unpredictable as the recordings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
