Ikara Colt formed in 1990 with Paul Marrone and Justin Vernon. Their debut album 'After This' came out in 1993, and the title track became one of their better-known songs. They were based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

They put out a few more albums after that, including 'Tectonics' and 'Modern Primitive.' The band went on hiatus in 2003. In 2018, there were allegations of sexual misconduct that circulated, though nothing was proven in court.
