Archive material and source history
Ilan Victor was a Brazilian singer from Belém, Pará, who fronted a band under his own name. He started singing in local churches as a young man, influenced by Brazilian artists like Wilson Simonal and Roberto Carlos. In 1999, he formed the band with bassist Roberto Belém, guitarist Gilson Júnior, keyboardist Ricardo Mendes, and drummer João Paulo.
Their 2002 debut album featured the title track 'Carol Eu Vou Dizer Te Amo,' which became widely popular in Brazil. The song's straightforward melody and Ilan's direct vocal delivery connected with listeners. Another track from that period, 'A Minha Namorada,' also gained attention.
After that initial success, the band continued recording for several years. Their material included romantic ballads and more upbeat numbers, though they remained best known for that early hit. The music stayed within familiar Brazilian pop territory rather than pushing into experimental directions.
