The musical offshoot of a popular 1990s Brazilian TV show that blended samba rhythms with educational lyrics.
For the feel of their sound, 'Nhã-nhã-nhã' and 'Zabumba' give you that blend of samba and playful pop they were known for.
They started as the musical arm of a children's television show in the early 1990s, working with composer Hélio Ziskind. Songs like 'Nhã-nhã-nhã' and 'Zabumba' mixed pop and samba with lyrics that were both playful and educational. Their 1995 debut included 'Rato Meu Querido Rato,' which became widely known in Brazil.
The original members included cast members Luciano Amaral, Fredy Allan, and Vanessa Lobato. They released several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, simply numbered as sequels to their first record. In 2012, their performance at a political rally drew some criticism from fans.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
