Ilka formed in Porto Alegre around childhood friends Fernando Anitelli and Marina Franco. They later expanded to include drummer Danilo Andrade, bassist Bruno Coelho, and guitarist Pedro Senna. Their 2014 debut album 'Canções para Embalar' got attention, particularly for the single 'É Sério'.
Their sound drew from Brazilian folk and bossa nova, with acoustic arrangements and vocal harmonies. The band faced a difficult period when Danilo Andrade died in 2017. They released a second album called 'Pássaros' the following year.
