Illfaith

Illfaith formed in South London in the late 1990s, with founding members including rapper and producer Ekow Eshun (who went by Eekwol), DJ/producer Illinformed, and rapper/songwriter Spaceape. They started collaborating in Brixton, working on a sound that would eventually surface on their 2003 debut album, 'No Time for Prophets.'

That first album established their approach: gritty rhymes over haunting beats, with lyrics that often turned inward or looked at social issues. Songs like 'Health Issues' and 'Deceive Me' became underground staples, reflecting the group's raw, uncompromising style. They followed up with albums like 'The Blueprints' in 2005 and 'Under the Grey Sky' in 2009, maintaining a steady output without much mainstream fanfare.

Their later work included 'Rainmaker' in 2013 and 'The Mourning After' in 2017, continuing to build a catalog respected in UK hip-hop circles. While they faced the usual financial constraints of an independent group, they kept recording and releasing music, developing a loyal following drawn to their particular blend of introspection and atmospheric production.
