A Norwegian trio crafting layered, introspective metal since 2004.
For a good sense of their sound, try 'Behind the Mirrors' or 'Feathers Shall Fall.' Both show that balance of dark atmosphere and melodic structure they've worked with for years.
Illnath's music avoids straightforward aggression for something more textured and atmospheric. You can hear it in tracks like 'Never Again' or 'The Blood Is The Almighty Sin,' where harsh elements blend with melodic passages. They've maintained a steady output focused on the albums themselves rather than building a public narrative.
The band formed in Oslo in 2004 as a trio with vocalist/guitarist Adrian Erlandsson, bassist Christian Lundqvist, and drummer Kenneth Eikum. Their first album 'Constellatia' arrived in 2009, followed by later records like 'Preacher of Death' in 2011 and 'The Silent Grief' in 2015.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
