Illogicist

Illogicist formed in 2004 around vocalist Matthew Pearson and multi-instrumentalist Tom Murphy. Their music pulls from progressive metal and post-rock, with songs like 'A Past Defeated Suffering' and 'Dissonant Perspectives' showing their interest in complex structures and atmospheric textures.

They released their first album 'The Insight of a Terrorist' in 2006, followed by 'Nightfall on the Elgin Street' in 2009 and 'The Heavens Shall Tremble' in 2012. Their sound has been described as difficult by some listeners, but they've maintained a consistent approach across these recordings.

Tracks such as 'Core' and 'Brain Collapse' continue with the layered guitar work and brooding quality that defined their earlier material. The band hasn't put out a full-length album since 2012, but their existing work remains available for those drawn to this particular corner of experimental metal.
