Archive material and source history
Iluminados formed in Medellín, Colombia in 1992, originally as Los Iluminados. The group included Juan Fernando Fonseca, Andrés Acosta, and Danilo Ballesteros. Their first album, La Casa de los Sueños, came out in 1994 with the song Dejaste En Mi, which became popular in Colombia.
They put out more records over the next decade, like El Color de la Noche in 1998 and Historias de Amor in 2004. Other songs people remember include Digale and Vuelve. Juan Fernando Fonseca handled most of the singing and writing.
Their sound mixed pop and rock with some Latin rhythms, and later recordings added electronic touches and Andean melodies. The lyrics often dealt with love and loss, as in Lagrimillas Tontas.
