ILUMINATIK formed in Germany in 1994. The group has two members: Henrik Björkk handles vocals and conceptual direction, while Hans Hansson creates the electronic instrumentation. Their debut album Synthese 0.3 came out in 1996, followed by Clockwork in 1998.
In 1999 they released Cristal, which included the track of the same name. The album represented something of a commercial breakthrough for them. They put out The Omega Code in 2001 and System 23 in 2005.
Their music combines industrial rhythms with melodic elements and distorted vocals. The lyrics sometimes explore technology and dystopian themes, which has occasionally drawn criticism.
