Impaler

Impaler formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s, led by vocalist Necro Infernal. Their debut album 'Shock Rock 2000' came out in 2002, giving the band its initial cult following. The record's title track became something of a calling card for their aggressive, theatrical approach.

Their stage shows were known for simulated bloodletting and pyrotechnics, which drew criticism from some conservative and religious groups. The band kept releasing albums through the 2000s and into the 2010s, including 'The Death of Innocence' in 2005 and 'Hell's Fire' in 2011. Other songs like 'Accursed Domain' and 'Crack The Whip' continued in that same vein of confrontational, riff-heavy metal.

The lineup stayed fairly consistent with Necro Infernal on vocals, Grave Digger on guitar, Deathmaster on bass, and Skullcrusher on drums. They never really softened their sound or their imagery, sticking with that blend of shock theatrics and straightforward metal aggression.
