Indaiá formed in Curvelo, Brazil in 2001, started by singer-songwriter Fábio Pena and guitarist André Aires. They came from Minas Gerais, where samba and sertanejo music mix in the air. Their first album came out in 2005, simply called 'Indaiá,' and introduced songs like 'A Certeza' and 'Natureza' that would become familiar to their listeners.
Over time, other musicians joined the group, including Marcus Vinicius on vocals, Marlon Fernandes on bass, and Vitor Almeida on drums. They put out more records like 'Um Olhar' in 2010 and 'O Som da Certeza' in 2015. Some of their work caught the ear of established Brazilian artists, and they've been known to collaborate with figures like Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia.
Their songs often have a straightforward, melodic quality, 'Agora,' 'É Você Quem Faz,' and 'Pra Te Iluminar' are good examples. They won the Prêmio da Música Brasileira in 2015, which put a little more spotlight on what they were doing.
