Infadels formed in Leeds in 1999, originally calling themselves The Intruders. The early lineup included Ben Wallers and Dave Lambert on vocals, Josh Morgan on guitar, Alan Sharp on bass, and Matt Bonadies on drums. They signed with Rough Trade Records in 2004 and released their debut album 'Leave to Remain' the following year.
That first album had a raw energy that connected with listeners, and the single 'Can't Get Enough' became something of a modern rock staple. After Lambert and Bonadies left in 2006, the remaining trio of Wallers, Morgan, and Sharp continued, putting out albums like 'We Are Not the Infadels' and 'Universe in Reverse'. Their sound shifted a bit on those records, drawing some criticism from fans who preferred the earlier approach.
Songs like 'Love Like Semtex' and 'Murder That Sound' show the band's knack for pairing big, anthemic melodies with lyrics that lean toward the introspective. They kept at it through the 2010s, releasing 'Love and Hate' in 2011 and a live album from the Brudenell Social Club a couple years later.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
