Inox

Inox formed in Barcelona around 2010, with Maria Arnal on vocals, David Puertas on multiple instruments, and Marc Ayza handling production and programming. Their first album '451' came out in 2012, followed by 'Microbios Afins' in 2016. The title track from that second album became a notable song for them, along with others like 'Nuclear Attack' and 'Fricção'.

Arnal's vocals sometimes mix Catalan and English, giving their electro-pop a particular texture. Their lyrics tend to look at social themes and human connections rather than sticking to purely personal territory. They've worked in that space without much fuss about being pioneers or breaking ground, just putting out music that holds together on its own terms.

They've had some attention for addressing topics like environmental concerns in songs, which isn't surprising given where their lyrics often go. But the focus has generally stayed on the music itself, the synths, the rhythms, the way the pieces fit. It's straightforward pop construction with enough room for the words to carry some weight.

After 'Microbios Afins', they kept going without making a big deal about influence or legacy. The songs from that period show what they were doing: clean electronic arrangements, Arnal's voice floating over the top, and lyrics that don't shy away from asking questions. It's competent work that found its audience without needing to redefine the genre.
