Instru formed in the early 2000s with Vera Cruz on vocals, Rodrigo Lima on guitar, and Alemão on bass. Their first album came out in 2003, featuring the song "Como Se Fosse o Céu." They put out two more records, 2006's "Sentimental" and 2010's "Melancolia."
Their sound pulled from Brazilian bossa nova and soft rock, with some electronic touches. A song like "Teoria do Caos" shows that side of their work. Vera Cruz's voice had an ethereal quality that became a recognizable part of their music.
At one point, Cruz had some vocal cord trouble after a live show, which led to the band taking a break. Their music later found a new audience when it became available on streaming services.
