Intohimo started as a Finnish rock band around 2005, with Aleksi Parviainen on vocals, Jani Parantainen on guitar, Antti Karhu on bass, and Teemu Rauhala on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2006 and found an audience in Finland, mixing melodic rock with straightforward lyrics. Songs like 'May I Present To You; Scars And a Heavy Heart!' and 'This winter' show the kind of direct, emotive writing that connected with listeners.
In 2008, they released 'Intohimo International,' which broadened their reach outside Finland. The album kept their rock foundation but leaned into a more polished sound. Around this time, Parviainen's personal issues and outspoken style drew media attention, and he left the band in 2011 after some internal disagreements.
Intohimo kept going with a new vocalist, Ville Laihiala, and continued to put out music. Their catalog includes tracks such as 'See You, See Me' and 'I put up a smile when my head is aching, because my teeth are whitebut my back is breaking,' which carry on the band's focus on raw, lyrical rock.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
