Archive material and source history
Inventário formed in São Paulo in 1994 with Mariella Santiago on vocals, Ricardo Rossato on acoustic guitar, Beto Villares on bass, and Vinicius Rosa on drums. Their sound pulled from samba, rock, and folk, with lyrics that often dealt with love and loss. They put out their first album, simply called 'Inventário,' in 1996.
Their second album, 'Pra Lá,' came out in 1998 and gave them their biggest song, the title track 'Pra Lá.' The record got them some critical attention and helped define their mix of samba rhythms with a pop sensibility. They followed it with 'Novo Tempo' in 2002 and 'Pontes' in 2006.
In 2003, lead singer Mariella Santiago left to work on solo material. Ricardo Rossato kept the band going, bringing in Roberta de Sá as the new vocalist. Their lyrics sometimes stirred things up, but they kept playing and recording through the mid-2000s.
