Irani Silva

Irani Silva was a Brazilian singer-songwriter who began recording in the 1970s. Her self-titled debut album came out in 1974, followed by 'Imagens do Nordeste Místico' in 1977. That second album's title track became her most recognized work, painting scenes of Brazil's Northeast region with poetic lyrics and ethereal melodies.

She was born in Salvador, Bahia, and grew up hearing traditional songs and religious hymns. Her music drew from Brazilian folk traditions while incorporating other influences.
