Isaac

Isaac is a Brazilian Christian rock band that started in Limeira, São Paulo, in 1998. The group formed around lead singer Anderson Freire and guitarist Luciano Manga. They put out their first album, 'Acorda Igreja', in 2004, and that title track became a kind of anthem in certain circles, a straightforward call to spiritual attention. Other songs like 'Para Que Entre o Rei' and 'Ciencia Ficción' show the range they worked in, from worship to more narrative rock.

For a while, the core lineup included Anderson Freire on vocals, Luciano Manga on guitar, Rafael Novarine on bass, and Leonardo Gonçalves on drums. They followed that debut with albums like 'Cheiro de Adoração' in 2006 and 'Tempo de Milagres' in 2009. Their music found an audience in Brazil's Christian scene without much of the usual industry machinery behind it at first.

In 2012, Anderson Freire was involved in a public scandal that put the band in an awkward spot. They got through it, and kept making music. Later tracks like 'CIRCO DOS HORRORES', which features Peaga and Indie Space, have a different, more collaborative feel. The band's story is pretty grounded in that specific world of Brazilian gospel rock, with its own set of expectations and challenges.
