Isaac Dunbar came up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, born in 1998. He started playing piano and guitar early, and his music pulls from gospel and hip-hop along with R&B and pop. In 2018, he put out 'Love, Or The Lack Thereof,' a ballad that got some attention and led to his EP 'Isaac.'
His songs like 'Fan Behavior' and 'Onion Boy' tend to work with personal material, love, self-doubt, the kind of stuff that comes from paying close attention. He writes and performs alone, and the sound stays pretty direct, voice and melody up front.
There was some noise around allegations in 2020, which he denied. He kept putting out music after that, tracks such as 'Scorton's Creek' and 'Intimate Moments.' The writing stays inward, less about big statements than about specific moments and feelings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
