Isabelle Aubret

Isabelle Aubret was born in Lille, France in 1938. She won a local singing competition at age twelve, which helped launch her career. In 1963, she represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song 'Un Premier Amour.'

That song became her signature piece, a gentle ballad about first love that resonated with French audiences. She worked with composer Charles Aznavour, and her discography includes songs like 'C'est beau la vie' and 'Il n'y a pas d'amour heureux.'

Her career spanned several decades, though she faced some criticism for being too sentimental during a time when French music was changing. She kept performing her style of music regardless.
