Alanko's songs like 'Kun Suomi Putos Puusta' and 'Aika kuolla' have a direct, unpolished quality that felt different from what was on Finnish radio at the time. He came from Oulu, an industrial town, and that background seemed to inform the music's straightforward, sometimes confrontational tone.
