Israel Sousa started out in the early 2000s as a member of Asa de Águia, a group from Salvador, Bahia. He later formed his own band under his name around 2005. Their self-titled debut album included tracks like "Ensaboado" and "Olha o Gordinho."
One of his most recognizable songs is "Chora Coração," which came out in 2008. It's a ballad that got plenty of radio play in Brazil. In 2010, there were some plagiarism allegations, but Sousa denied them and kept recording.
