It Bites formed in Chesterfield, Derbyshire in 1982 with Francis Dunnery on vocals and guitar, John Beck on keyboards, Dick Nolan on bass, and Bob Dalton on drums. Their debut single 'Plastic Dreamer' came out in 1986. The band's sound had a progressive rock feel, with songs like 'This Is England' and 'Fahrenheit' showing their melodic approach.
In 1990 they released 'Eat Me in St. The record included tracks like 'For Safekeeping' and 'Ghosts.' By that point, Bob Dalton had left the band in 1988 and was replaced by drummer Mark White.
Their song 'This Is England' from 1988 became one of their most recognized tracks, with lyrics that reflected Britain in the late 1980s. Other songs like 'Great Disasters' showed their range within their progressive style.
