Ivo Mozart formed in Curitiba in 2006, with Ivo Mozart on vocals, André Maia on guitar, Leo Ibanez on bass, and Jarbas Bittencourt on drums. They took their name from the composer as a nod to musical tradition. Their first album came out in 2009, and songs like 'Se Namorar' and 'Não Para' show their mix of pop, rock, and electronic sounds with Christian themes.
They've put out several albums since then, including 'Volta ao Lar' in 2012, 'Nação Santa' in 2014, and 'Reino' in 2021. Their music doesn't fit neatly into one category, working with straightforward melodies and lyrics about faith and relationships. Tracks such as 'Vambora' and 'Desculpa Por Te Amar Demais' have the kind of direct, melodic approach that's kept them going.
They've worked with other artists in their scene, like Fernandinho and Nívea Soares. The band has stayed based in Brazil, releasing music regularly without much fuss about changing their sound or chasing trends.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
