J+ came together in Salvador, Bahia in 1999, mixing axé with pagode and electronic touches. Their debut album 'Na Base do Beijo' came out that same year and found a wide audience. The group's lineup included João Gomes on lead vocals, Saulo Fernandes on bass and vocals, Xanddy Harmonia on vocals and guitar, Tatau on percussion, Magary Lord on keyboards, and Buja Ferreira on guitar.
They kept putting out albums through the 2000s and 2010s, including 'Bom Demais' in 2001, 'Eu Vou' in 2003, and 'A Virada' in 2007. That 2007 single 'A Virada' became particularly well-known. Other songs like 'Agua', 'Alta Voz', and 'Olhos' also made their way onto playlists.
In 2013, Saulo Fernandes left the group. The band continued with other members, releasing albums like 'Navega' in 2016 and 'Axé Bahia' in 2019.
