Archive material and source history

J. Armen was a London band formed in the early 1980s around singer and songwriter John Armen. They released their debut single "10 to 10" in 1985, which became an international hit. The song's success led to their first album, "When You Come Back to Me."

After the initial success, original members Patrick Hynes and Stephen Kelly left the band in 1986. John Armen continued with new musicians including Dave Clarke and Phil Tagg, releasing a second album called "A Deeper Kind" that didn't match their earlier commercial performance. The band disbanded in 1989.

While J. Armen's recording career lasted only a few years, "10 to 10" remained their most recognizable song. They also recorded other tracks like "Dancing Maria," "Fallen Angel," and "Stay away."
