Archive material and source history
J. Blackfoot was an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1972. They're best known for the song "Taxi," which came out in 1975 on their debut album, No Reservations, for Capricorn Records. The track reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, driven by Jimmy Hart's vocals and a gritty Southern rock sound.
After Hart left the band in 1977, guitarist Rickey Medlocke took over as lead vocalist. The group kept recording into the early '80s with albums like Strikes and Marauder, but they never matched the success of "Taxi."
