Archive material and source history
J Majik was a British electronic duo made up of Jamie Jones and Matt Johnson. They came out of London in the early 2000s with a sound that leaned on house and techno. Their first single, "Crazy World," came out in 2002 and became a club track that got them noticed.
They put out a debut album called "Tales from the Urban Jungle" that mixed house, techno, and some soulful touches. Later records included "Peace of Mind" and "First Light." In 2006, they did a remix of Justin Timberlake's "My Love" that drew some criticism but also kept people talking about them.
Jamie Jones handled the DJing and Matt Johnson was the producer and keyboard player. They toured a fair amount, and that schedule, along with the usual creative differences, put some strain on the partnership over time.
