Elke avond voor het slapen gaan vertelde mijn vader over de avonturen van
een curieus tweetal - Bobbie en Elsje, een beer en een meisje - dat de wildste
dingen beleefde met een toverautootje dat kon vliegen als Bobbie aan het
stuur trok!
Al snel ging ik lastige vragen stellen: Hoe dat dan kon, zo'n pratende beer en
welk type auto dat dan wel was.
Toen ik wat ouder werd wilde ik weten of Elsje zo onderhand al niet eens ovuleerde.
En nog later: was het wel een beer? Of moesten wij het allegorisch zien...
Was het beest een metafoor en zo ja, waarvan.
En dan dat vliegen? Bakte Elsje wel eens een spacecakeje misschien?
Ik weet niet meer hoe mijn vader deze banale hindernissen heeft genomen,maar
Bobbie en Elsje bleven vliegen.
En onderhand was het een vertrouwd beeld geworden: je ouwe heer die daar
elke avond, jaar in jaar uit, bij je bed kwam zitten.
Ik weet wel dat mijn eerste vriendin, die bleef slapen het nogal 'raar'vond.
