Jabbah

Jabbah formed in London in the early 2000s with James Williamson on vocals and guitar, Sasha Brown on bass, and Andy Swaby on drums. Their sound pulls from punk, hip-hop, and electronic music, though it's not easy to pin down to any one style. They put out three albums between 2007 and 2014: The Unwashed Mass, The Ghost of Jabbah, and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.

Their track "And, Und, Y" from 2005 became their calling card, with its driving beat and raw vocal delivery. Other songs like "De Felicidad Y de Muerte Estoy Hablando" and "Yo No Suelo Razonar" show their tendency toward longer, more reflective titles and lyrics that lean into personal observation. The writing often feels direct, less concerned with polish than with getting something across.

They built a following without much mainstream machinery, working through early lineup shifts and the usual financial tightness that comes with being an independent band. Their records found listeners who responded to the unvarnished approach in both the music and words.
