Jabe formed in the late 1990s in Anse-Bleue, New Brunswick, with founding members Joey Martin and Alain Melanson. The band faced early tragedy when drummer Jean-Guy Arseneau died in a car accident in 1999, and guitarist Marc Arsenault left soon after. They kept going, bringing in new members and releasing their debut album 'Path' in 2000.
Their song 'Here I Stand' became a hit single in 2003, though it brought accusations that its main riff resembled Rainbow's 'Man on the Silver Mountain.' Jabe denied the plagiarism claims. They put out two more albums, 'Lightning Strikes Twice' and 'Trailblazers,' and toured regularly.
