Jabón Blue

Jabón Blue formed in Barcelona in the 1990s with Berni Sánchez on vocals, Ramoncín on guitar, Javier Almendro on bass, and Luis Miguel Martínez on drums. They played small venues around Spain before getting a break in 1996 with their single 'La Gallina de Los Huevos de Oro.' The song's catchy melody and humorous lyrics about a golden-egg-laying hen connected with listeners, and its animated music video became widely recognized.

That hit led to a deal with Sony Music and their self-titled debut album in 1997. Their sound mixed rock, ska, and pop, and they followed up with albums like 'Ellos Vienen' in 1999 and 'Como Perros' in 2002. Other songs in their catalog include '15 Pesos de Rock And Roll,' 'Baby Chocho,' and 'Cuando El Silencio Suena.'

Berni Sánchez's outspoken style and the band's commercial appeal sometimes drew criticism, but they maintained a loyal following. Their music from that period still gets airplay at Spanish rock festivals and on radio stations.
