I saw a bird trapped

I saw a bird trapped in home detention

I saw a bird trapped

I saw a mirror

I saw myself trapped in

I can't be a bird

I can't fly away and sing along

I cannot watch a show anymore

I cannot look at the mirror anymore

So I put on a jacket and went to the garden

And I plucked with violence a flower

That I took five years to water

Will I be free, will my father?

Will my father help me breathe?

Will my father make me weak?

I can hear the birds cry

But when will my mother?
