Jacksom formed around vocalist Anya Taylor and guitarist Ethan James near the end of the 1990s. Their debut album 'Nocturne' came out in 2002, with the song 'Motel' as its centerpiece. A second album, 'Shadowplay', followed in 2007.
Their music often dealt with themes of loss and alienation, which drew some criticism alongside praise. The band's output was sparse, but 'Motel' in particular found an audience with its atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
