Jaime Cuadra was born in El Salvador in 1955. He started playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager, and by the early 1980s had formed his own band.
In 1984 he released "China Hereje," which became his defining song. Its ethereal melodies and unconventional structure stood apart from mainstream Latin music at the time. The track gained popularity both in El Salvador and internationally.
Cuadra released several albums including "La Ciudad de los Ángeles" in 1987, "El Desierto" in 1992, and "El Tiempo Perdido" in 2000. His band included musicians like guitarist Jorge Alfredo Portillo, bassist Mauricio "Mao" Durán, and drummer José Luis "Chepe" Mejía.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
