Jaime e Fernando started playing together in 1995 after meeting at a music festival in Ibirama, Santa Catarina. They both played accordion and drew from traditional Brazilian rhythms. Their first album came out in 1997, called "Como Não Me Apaixonar?" after the song that became their early hit.
That title track, "Como Não Me Apaixonar?," was a ballad built around accordion lines that connected with listeners. Another song people remember is "Nois é Bagunceiro," which featured Carreiro e Capataz. Their music mixed those traditional sounds with some pop and rock elements as they kept recording.
In 2001, there was some trouble when someone accused them of plagiarizing one of their well-known songs. They denied it, and it didn't stop them from putting out more albums. Jaime Teixerinha usually handled accordion and lead vocals, while Fernando Caneca played guitar and sang backup.
