Jake Hoot is from Cookeville, Tennessee. He grew up around music, with a grandfather who played banjo and guitar and a grandmother who sang gospel. In 2019, he auditioned for The Voice, singing "When I Call Your Name" and landing on Blake Shelton's team. That same year, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer but continued with the show after treatment.
He won season 17 of The Voice. During the competition, he recorded a duet with Kelly Clarkson called "I Would've Loved You," which reached number one on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. After the show, he signed with Big Machine Records and put out his self-titled debut album in 2020.
Some of his songs include "Best Job I Ever Had," "Better Off Without You," and "Tennessee Strong." He's worked with other Voice contestants too, like Ricky Duran on a version of "La Bamba."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
