Editor's note

Jam Project's anime anthems and shifting vocal lineup

A Japanese supergroup formed in 2000 that's mostly made music for anime series.

For a sense of their sound, 'Kaze ni Nare' and 'The Hero! Ikareru Kobushi Ni Hi Wo Tsukero' are good places to start.

They've been the go-to for certain kinds of anime themes since the early 2000s, with tracks like 'Rescue Fire' and 'MAXON' appearing in their catalog. Their song 'The Hero! Ikareru Kobushi Ni Hi Wo Tsukero' became something of a signature piece. In 2008, 'Seijaku no Toki ~Requiem~' was used in a Japanese military promotional video, which drew some criticism from fans.

They formed in 2000 with vocalists Hiroshi Kitadani, Masaaki Endoh, Masami Okui, Ichirou Mizuki, and Rica Matsumoto. Other vocalists like Hironobu Kageyama and Yoshiki Fukuyama have been part of the group at different points. They've released albums including 'The Legacy' in 2016 and 'The Force' in 2022.
