James Houlahan started making music in La Crosse, Wisconsin, teaching himself guitar and vocals. He put out his first EP, "The Rattlesnake," in 2015. A couple years later, his single "Seven Years Now" got some attention for its lyrics and melody.
He followed that with a debut album called "The Water" in 2018, then put out "Love and Other Disasters" in 2020 and "The Weight of the World" in 2023. He worked with producer Rick Rubin on a track called "The Weight."
