Jamroots formed in Bandung, Indonesia in 1995, with Ricky Teddy on vocals, Noe Letto on guitar, Azis Manggis on bass, and Sandy Sandoro on drums. They were part of the reggae scene there, and their debut album that year shared its name with the song 'Aventureiros.'
In 1999, drummer Sandy Sandoro died in a car accident. The band kept going after that. A few years later, in 2006, they faced accusations of plagiarism over their song 'Grogi,' which stirred up some debate.
They put out other albums like 'Topeng Kekasih' in 1997, 'Spiritus' in 2000, and 'X-Treme' in 2002. 'Aventureiros' won them an Anugerah Musik Indonesia award for Best Reggae Song in 1995, and 'Spiritus' won Best Album in 2000.
