met vrouw en negen kinderen, dat was alles wat ie had.
Met vrouw en negen kinderen, zes kippen en een haan

De oorlog kwam en Willem hielp veel mensen uit de nood
keek niet of ze wit waren, of zwart, of grijs, of rood.
En toen het eindelijk vrede was werd iedereen haast gek
hij kreeg al gauw als feestkado 'n kogel in zijn nek.
Niemand wist waarom of hoe, maar iemand had misschien
drie bezopen kerels met geweren gezien.
En vroeg iemand gerechtigheid dan kon die wel al vlug
het lot van Willem delen, dus die trok zich gauw terug.
