Janete Jane

Janete Jane formed in Rio de Janeiro during the 1970s with Janete de Almeida Santos on vocals, Cláudio Antônio de Oliveira on guitar, Edson dos Santos on bass, and José Carlos dos Santos on drums. Their sound mixed samba with rock and funk elements, which some listeners found unconventional at the time.

Their 1977 self-titled debut album included "Cachorro Sem Rumo," a song that became widely known in Brazil. They followed it with records like Rio de Janeiro in 1978 and Janete Jane 3 in 1979, maintaining a steady output through the early 1980s.

While their style drew criticism from some traditional samba circles, the band kept playing their own way. Another track, "Verdades e Mentiras," appeared among their work, reflecting their blend of straightforward melodies and more complex arrangements.
