Janna formed in Finland in 1992, with Sanna Kurki-Suonio on vocals and guitar and Janne Kasurinen on bass. Their debut album 'Yöaika' came out in 1994. The song 'Läpinäkyvä' from 1996 became one of their most recognizable tracks, along with 'Raja ft. Mikael Gabriel' and 'Sä Et Ole Hullu'.
In 2000, guitarist Perttu Kurttila died. The band kept working and put out the album 'Ihminen' in 2005, which stirred some debate in Finland over its lyrical content. They released several other albums, including 'Kunnon syy' in 1998, 'Loisto' in 2008, and 'Ajanvietettä' in 2011.
