Jards Macalé was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1938 and studied at the National School of Music. His debut album came out in 1968, featuring the song 'Movimento Dos Barcos' that mixed samba and bossa nova with more experimental sounds.
He worked with musicians like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, and his recordings included players such as Nelson Ângelo on guitar and Wagner Tiso on keyboards. Other songs like 'Agora' and 'Meu Amor Meu Cansaço' show his range across different Brazilian styles.
He released albums like 'A Tábua de Esmeralda' in 1972 and 'Contrastes' in 1976, continuing to blend traditional rhythms with jazz and rock elements.
